MASTER PLAN FOR THE CREATION OF GREEN AREAS IN THE CITY OF VITORIA-GASTEIZ
Based on the analysis of the existing situation of the free-spaces and with the aim to give solutions to the conflicts in the design, we proposed guidelines to conduct the projects for the new urban spaces at the growing areas of Vitoria-Gasteiz. The parameters were developed according to the objectives of the “General Plan” report. To make the information more accessible, a document was structured with files that are easy to manage, therefore, the guidelines of the next urbanization projects guidelines can be achieved. Objectives: contribute with better techniques to the conflicts detected at the new areas created; give the new spaces a balance between the investment on the construction, the maintenance and the environmental/social benefits achieved; ensure the continuity between the natural spaces, the new and urban areas, to enhance the biological diversity, the continuity of the pathways and the pedestrian mobility; enhance the pedestrian itineraries as the focus of the new city areas, incorporating elements of the peri-urban landscape on the path; structure the urban space attending to the criteria of environment quality improvement of Vitoria-Gasteiz. Methodology: definition of the green spaces typology. Selection of the current spaces for work samples and fieldwork for data collection; analysis of the current open spaces limitations; set the action guidelines for the new areas; outline the typologies for the new areas: Salburua y Zabalgana. Develop the files with the proposed typologies.
