RENOVA SP PIRAJUSSARA 5 – URBAN AND LANDSCAPE BASIC PROJECT
São Paulo-SP, BR, 2011-2019
The competition aims to develop architecture and urban planning/design projects in 22 integrated action areas at the informal city of São Paulo slums, with and investment of 58 mi reais, that will benefit 73.136 inhabitants at a 55.642.278m² surface area. The competition takes into consideration the actions in risk areas, implementation of urban infrastructure, drainage, construction of public spaces and new housing units, in such a way that these places become new neighborhoods belonging to the formal city.
The proposal comes from observing that the informal city has been growing above the river or turning its back to it, because of seeing it as inhospitable, dirty and unpleasant. Form this scenario analysis, the project aims to bring together the river and inhabitants. We intend to show the benefits of having the river and its systems nearby and encourage the citizens to attend the initiatives for the conservation of the environment.
Therefore, there’s a work of developing a transition from the city inhabited by humans until the systems of natural dynamics. The concept gives priority to the areas that have lack of open spaces. The strategy of building a linear Park that enhances the green fluvial corridor and makes a smooth transition between the natural environment and the existing urban fabric. The multiple services offered to the community consolidates these civic and interaction spaces of cultural exchange and enables the inhabitants to acknowledge the delicate the fragile natural surrounding system. The landscape has an important role in this operation of urban surgery, as a tool of pacification of the urban fabric, generating connections and giving an environmental quality of a portion of the city that has lack of identity.
